1. APPLICATION
This document applies to all shipboard personnel.
2. PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to specify requirements for familiarization with emergency stop procedures and fuel oil quick closing valves.
3. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Chief Engineer shall:
- Ensure that all engine personnel are familiar with the location and function of emergency stops and fuel oil quick closing valves through regular on-the-job training
- Carry out a thorough inspection to confirm that vessel is complying with SOLAS and United States Coastguard (USCG) requirements
- Report any noncompliance to the Technical Superintendent & Marine Superintendent as soon as deficiency is discovered
4. EMERGENCY STOPS & FUEL OIL QUICK CLOSING VALVE
Chief Engineer and Engineer on Watch (EOW) shall perform and verify the following tasks:
